A pair of extremely uncommon Tobia Scarpa Mastro Chairs. Mastro was created on the same structural principle as the Monk chair, but in a new dialect that only the 1980’s could help articulate. Powder coated tubular steel mixed with a stain resistant black canvas makes for a comfortable, lightweight, and aesthetically flirtatious piece of beauty. He has created some of the most innovative and beautiful pieces of functional furniture to come out of Italy. As Carlo Scarpa’s son, he had big shoes to fill and his design ethos is soaked in craftsmanship, something his father is internationally famous for. One of my favourite quotes from Tobia speaks to this in a lovely way, "Knowing how to build is a debt to technique. Knowing how to give a meaning to things I create is a debt to logic required by the forms".
