An incredibly impressive large sized bronze vase by renowned artist Hannya Kankei. He is considered one of the most celebrated metal artists on the 20th century. His masterful works have been featured in numerous museum exhibitions and are coveted collectors pieces.

The painterly quality of this work speaks volumes to Kankei’s craftsmanship and ability to orchestrate such a precise and fluid work of art. It gives an allusion that the patina is shifting and moving - altered off its form. It is a mega piece of bronze and is surely one of his most abstractly captivating examples in this medium The use of red murashido technique and the heart pounding icy green marbled patina is a combination not often seen in the Showa period. The vase also comes in a signed cedar box with ribbon.

Hannya Kankei (given name Hannya Shōzō) is a metal work artist from Takaoka, known for high-quality copper craftsmanship. He is the fourth generation of Hannya family foundry, manufacturing high-quality copperware since 1870. He studied metal casting under living national treasure Katori Masahiko (1899-1988). He has won many awards and prizes: thirteen times the Award of Excellence at the Kinkō Shinsaku-ten (New Works in Metalcraft), in 1969 exhibited for the first time at the Nihon Dentō Kogeiten (Japan Traditional Crafts Exhibition), winning the Nihon Kogeikai prize in 1973, Encouragement prize in 1982 and Asahi Newpaper office prize in 1985 at the Nihon Dentō Kogei Kinko Ten (Japan Traditional Metal Crafts Exhibition).
