Description
A set of 4 extremely uncommon Broadway Chairs produced by Bernini. Each chair is unique and both seat and back are casted in a green/yellow resin. A frozen fluidity - portrait of art, science and time or perhaps resembling some swirled out smokey nebula you might see through the James Webb telescope. When the sunshine hits these chairs it really is a hazy spectacle of light and presence. The brushed steel frame balances dizzily on steel springs and rubber feet. These chairs are works of art - they are symbols.
I once asked Gaetano about the chairs and he gave me this answer “The springs on the feet are to give a sense of insecurity, there is insecurity in our reality, we see it in violence, there is economic insecurity, there is insecurity in our health...
When you sit you do not feel secure that is like the reality of life.”
Each chair is stamped on the underside. Gaetano is most certainly one of the greatest artists of the 20th and 21st centuries. His passion is only enhanced by his character, his willingness to experiment, and his profoundness to relate his art to his experience and the realities of our times.
